Get to Know Joanna

"I have loved every moment being a part of this industry" - Joanna Zarate has been working for Jon Renau since September 2019 and has taken the time to tell us a bit about herself.
I am a born-and-raised San Diego native with a love for all typical Southern California things: the beach, my Golden Retriever Kylo, and a good California burrito.
I have loved every moment being a part of this industry since 2014 when I graduated from Paul Mitchell the School San Diego (PMTSSD). My background consists of salon management/education and all things bridal.
The first time I attended a hair show near the end of my education at PMTSSD I saw all the artists having a blast on their platform. I knew then that I wanted to be on stage one day too. Jon Renau opened the doors for that opportunity, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My all-time favorite quote is: “Work so hard that when you walk into the room, you don’t have to introduce yourself.“ And I don’t mean that in a cold-The-Devil-Wear-Prada type of way, but to never be ashamed of your achievements and what you’ve worked hard for.
Tell us about your Jon Renau journey:
I joined Jon Renau as a part of the Education Team from the get-go and have loved every moment of it since. It would be really hard to imagine myself anywhere else in the company if not in Education. My favorite part of working here is knowing how far our product reaches and how we get to be a part of the process of making someone feel beautiful.
Proudest moment at JR:
My greatest achievement (so far) has been knowing that the knowledge I’m able to provide will make a difference to those in attendance.
Favorite wig or hair piece(s):
Having rocked long black hair for almost my entire life (besides an awkward 16-year-old red), my favorite piece has to be a fun, blonde bob like Gwyneth. She takes me completely out of my element, and I love popping her on every now and then. When I want a fun and quick style change-up, my forever go-to will always be easiFringe!
Favorite color(s):
My favorite colors lay in the red family with my favorites being 6/33 or 6F27!
