Real Women, Real Stories: Amber

THIS MONTH WE ASKED AMBER, OUR END WEARER - TO SHARE HER STORY WITH US.
Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Amber. I'm coming up on my 13th wedding anniversary, married to a wonderful guy and my best friend. I have 4 children, and a 5th and final baby on the way! Being a mom is my biggest priority right now, and takes up the majority of my time. I love creating, whether it be crafting, decorating, upcycling, or doing hair. I've always loved hair, and went to beauty school during high school many years ago. I started my Instagram page, Fabricating Fringe about a year ago to hopefully help and inspire women dealing with thin, fine, hair & hair loss by using great products, fun pieces, and creative styling.
How long have you been wearing wigs or hairpieces?
I started wearing hair extensions years ago when I turned 16, and could finally afford them on my own. I never had the ability to grow long thick hair. I wore a variety of extensions for years... sewn wefts, tape, clips, etc. My first hair piece was a clip in pony tail, then a clip in bang. These pieces gave me the length and thickness I could never achieve on my own. About 5 years ago, I noticed my already thin hair shedding quite a bit. I often used thickening products and powders, but the time it took to style my hair was exhausting and the end result was disappointing. I reluctantly went to a local wig shop and bought 2 inexpensive synthetic wigs. When I'd wear them, I integrated them with my own hair...much like a topper. A few years later, I started researching top pieces, and realistic looking mono toppers. This concept was actually more intriguing to me, as I preferred to blend my bio hair along with the "helper hair", and I felt a hair topper would suit my needs very well. After much research, I started ordering hair toppers about a year ago...and I'm sooo glad that I did. They have been life changing! I have dealt with thin fine hair since I can remember, but the random bouts of hair loss started after having children. My 20s were very difficult when it came to the lack of confidence I had about my head of hair. Hair pieces and a variety of faux hair have helped me learn, grow, find confidence, and peace with my hair loss.
What advice would you give to a new wig wearer?
Sometimes you may think everyone is noticing your wig or hairpiece... that it's sticking out like a "sore thumb" --but most people don't suspect a thing! If anything, they only wish they could have a head of hair like yours (little do they know!) Wear your hair (purchased or not) with confidence. You are beautiful.
What do you love about our brand?
I love Jon Renau because their products are both beautiful and affordable. Everything I've received from JR seems high quality and most importantly REALISTIC looking. My opinion is you don't want people to SEE that it's a wig with just a glance. You want them to believe it's all natural. Jon Renau provides realistic 'above average' wigs and hair pieces at wonderful pricing for the average income family. My top secret mono topper & top wave topper integrate easily with my bio hair, and I always get many compliments when I wear them. I used to think there was no hope for my head of hair. I never went anywhere without a hat. I can't tell you enough how thankful I am for Jon Renau and their beautiful products!
