Tell us a little about yourself

I am a 28-year-old educator living in Australia. I am passionate about empowering women to live their best life and inspiring others to truly ‘own’ who they are. I am particularly interested in busting the stigma around ‘wearing hair’. Besides my passion for alternative hair, I am currently obsessed with cooking plant-based recipes, travelling and soy lattes.

How long have you been wearing wigs or hairpieces?

My family has a long history of genetic hair thinning. I was 19 when I experienced a traumatic event in my life and from this point I noticed that my hair was only half of what it once was (it was almost as if this event kick started my androgenetic alopecia gene). I always grew up with thick hair and definitely took it for granted. It wasn’t until I was 25 that I was introduced to world of toppers and wigs.

What advice would you give to a new alternative hair wearer?

Spend time researching your options before you jump into purchasing. Hair loss can really take a toll on our confidence and unfortunately many sellers are preying on vulnerable women. Find a company you can really trust and a company who will guide you through every step of the way; from selecting a style/colour, to after care. When you find your perfect piece, take it to a trusted stylist to get it custom cut and even coloured to suit your exact needs. Experiment with styling your piece in different ways until you perfect your look.

My honest advice is to ‘own’ your new hair and rock it. I have never had anyone detect my alternative hair. I remember being super anxious about people ‘discovering my secret’ – and no one has bat an eyelid. Now I have so much fun playing with different styles and colours, it has definitely become a passion of mine. Toppers have given me so much of my confidence back and I am so at peace with my situation. I always have a good hair day and it literally takes less than 2 minutes.

What do you love about our brand?

The pieces have excellent longevity. I have had some of my Jon Renau pieces for 3 years and they arestill in excellent condition. The pieces work for so many different women and I truly believe Jon Renau are achieving so much within this community. ‘Hair toppers’ are the ultimate solution for thin/thinning hair, however, these products are still not common knowledge among hairdressers and consumers (how???). I love spreading the good news through my Instagram account about this awesome and easy solution.
