How long have you been in the alternative hair business?

We opened Bravadas Kc in February 2016.

What inspired you to start this business?

I had 2 previous franchises and like the franchise business model. I had opened an image consultant business, helping women build their confidence through wardrobe choices. When a friend mentioned that Bravadas was franchising, I was intrigued. After visiting 2 of the Bravadas salons, I was hooked! Seeing how impactful hair options could be in building women's confidence was stunning. It has been extremely fulfilling and I have been fortunate to assemble an amazing team of dedicated, passionate stylists. Together, we change lives every day, one strand at a time.

What kind of services do you offer?

At Bravadas, we are a full-service salon environment with full customization capabilities for wigs, extensions and toppers.

What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase wig / topper for the first time?

My advice is to get help from a professional, it makes all the difference in the world. Give yourself time to adjust to your new image, and be honest with your friends and family about the emotions you are feeling. Let them know you appreciate their support in your decision. Do what makes you feel great and confident, you'll be amazed at the difference in your self-esteem and inner peace. Just do it!

What is your favorite Jon Renau piece?

My favorite Jon Renau piece?? That's a tough one, I have so many! For wigs, I love Positano and Angie. For toppers, I love Top Form because it works well on most everyone. I currently wear Easipart XL in Salted Caramel and LOVE it!

You are CORE certified, what would you say to someone who has not yet attended?

CORE certification will change your business for the better if you attend and put the suggested practices in place. All of our 5 stylists have attended, and it is invaluable in their confidence and ability to educate our customers properly and consistently.

What changes have you seen in our industry in the past 5 years?

Customers do their research online and usually come in with some information and terminology. They may be asking for lace front, or mono top, but not really understand what that is. It is our job to further educate them about the fiber and cap construction options available to them. I do see an increase in thinning hair clients and they are thrilled to learn about toppers. I cannot imagine running an alternative hair salon without toppers. They are fantastic, and Jon Renau has a solution for every issue.

What do you believe is ONE of your success factors?

One of our success factors is our staff of stylists. They assist women in private styling rooms and help them navigate their way through an emotional, often difficult journey. The training, technology and support that Jon Renau provides our stylists is a winning combination for our clients, who leave happy and confident. And that's what it is all about, isn't it?
