Pssst... High DefLace is much more delicate than Smartlace™!
CLEANSE & CONDITION:
- Before washing, gently remove any tangles using your Jon Renau Wide Tooth Comb ONLY. Be sure to avoid pulling or tugging on the lace while detangling.
- Wet hair completely using cool running water.
- Gently lather hair with a small amount of Jon Renau Fiber Love Shampoo, making sure that the hair is traveling in the same direction. Use gentle massaging motions, DO NOT SCRUB.
- Support the lace with your hand when cleansing to prevent stress.
- Avoid stretching, pulling or tugging on the lace.
- Rinse thoroughly under cool running water until the water runs clear.
- Spray with Jon Renau Fiber Love Conditioning Spray (3-5 pumps) keeping away from base.
.

DRY & STYLE:
- Allow wig to air dry naturally by placing on a plastic or wire wig stand that's smaller or collapsible to avoid tension. Ensure the lace front is not resting on any of the stand's cross pieces to prevent dents in the lace. No stretching over the stand head. Smooth lace into place, ensuring the lace is not bent and lying flat along the top of the wig stand. Do not pull it taut while drying; avoid hanging by the lace. Do NOT blow dry.
- Air drying will give the best results. Allow cap to dry completely before applying to a canvas block head. Never place wig on a blockhead until it is completely dry. This will help prevent the lace from stretching while the cap is still wet.
- Apply 3-5 pumps of Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler, focusing on the bottom half of wig or hairpiece. Gently comb through using your wide tooth comb. Avoid pulling at the lace to prevent stretching.
Only use a wide tooth comb on Heat-Friendly fiber. Other tools will cause frizzing/tangling. - Heat-Friendly fiber can withstand heat up to 350° F (176.7°C), however, Jon Renau recommends working at 270°-280° F (132°-138°C). When using a hot tool, ensure that you are gently styling around the lace to avoid stretching.
- Only use professional grade heat styling tools with digital temperature settings to control heat such as the Jon Renau Infrared Duo Styler
.
STORAGE:
- Place on a wig stand or mannequin head that is smaller to maintain the cap shape and prevent stretching.
- Store in a cool, dark area away from direct sunlight to prevent drying or weakening of the lace.
- Avoid heat sources (bathrooms, styling stations, windows) to help preserve the softness and integrity of the lace.
.
TIPS:
- Heat-Friendly synthetic fibers can tangle and frizz with wear. It is important that the frizz is corrected early to avoid permanent damage to the fiber. Use your flat iron to smooth any frizz before washing. Maintenance can help extend the longevity of both the fiber and base materials. Regular detangling is important for overall product longevity, as tangles left untreated may require repeated pulling, which can create tension and gradually stretch the base material and lace over time.
- We recommend using HD Smooth Detangler and a wide tooth comb DAILY to detangle. Be mindful when detangling around the hairline and delicate lace.
.
TO CURL OR SMOOTH:
- Heat your curling or flat iron to 270°-280° F (132°-138°C).
- Gently remove any tangles using your wide tooth comb. Avoid tugging or pulling around the hairline and lace.
- Starting at the nape, take .5"-1.5" sections of hair.
- Spray Jon Renau Heat Protectant Spray on each section to protect the fiber (1-2 pumps per section).
- Allow product to dry before applying hot styling tool.
.
TO CURL:
- Gather hair into curling iron, smooth through to the ends. Roll the iron up towards the base of the wig or hairpiece, staying 1-2" away. Avoid tugging or pulling.
- Hold for 10-15 seconds, then turn the tip of iron toward the ground and release curl into palm of hand.
- Holding curl in one hand, gather up towards base and secure curl with a small metal clip (like a pin curl).
- Allow curl to cool completely (about 5 minutes); remove clip and let curl hang naturally
.
TO SMOOTH:
- Slowly smooth flat iron through ends; keep hair smooth by following behind the iron with your wide tooth comb. Avoid tugging or pulling.
- Allow hair to fall naturally and cool completely.
