#jonrenaugetsreal Real Hair Loss + Real Solutions

Jon Renau Gets Real was born from the desire to empower those experiencing different stages of hair loss and instill confidence in the hair loss solutions available today. It is a program about real hair loss, real solutions, for real people.

This year, we’re featuring the journeys of four brave individuals who discovered hair replacement as a solution for their hair loss.

Meet David

.

“Once I got [hair replacement], I started feeling more confident, like my real self again.”

Can you describe your hair loss?

I have that typical male hair loss in the back and then a receding hair line in the front. There’s hair loss on both sides of my family, so I didn’t really stand a chance.

How did hair loss affect you?

At the age of 24 or so, I started losing my hair. I tried different things to hide it; I was living under hats for a couple years and tried various other hair loss solutions. Eventually, I broke down and was like, “You know what, I'll just own it. I’ll shave my head”. I absolutely hated it. I hated the way I looked, I hated everything about it. Me without hair, it’s just not really me.

How did you discover hair replacement?

I started looking around on YouTube. I found a video of hair replacement and thought, this is perfect, this is exactly what I'm looking for. The first conversation, the salon owner set up a Zoom consultation with me because this was during the pandemic. During the call, I found out he wears hair too, so he made me feel really comfortable. It seemed like the right thing to do.

The hair replacement process

What advice would you give to others?

It’s funny because I’m not a superficial person. I do care about how I look obviously, but I'm not one to be fake in any way. I feel like that’s probably what a lot of guys go through, but the first time you get your hair put on and done well it doesn’t feel fake at all. [Hair Replacement] feels like you are you and you’re a better, more confident version of yourself. So, I would say if you’re skeptical, at least give it a try once because it will definitely change your life.

Do your research, you have to make the decision that’s right for you. There’s a cost to everything that’s worth having, but it’s completely and utterly worth every cent, I believe. I say give it a shot; you’re not going to regret it.
