What does "remy" and "non-remy" human hair really mean?

The term "remy" is one of the most misused and misunderstood terms in the alternative hair industry. Let's set the record straight!

REMY:

Remy human hair is hair that is collected and sorted from multiple sources, with root to tip traveling in the same direction to ensure that the cuticle does not tangle. This is a very tedious and time consuming process for our factories, which is why the cost is higher for remy human hair.

NON-REMY:

Non-remy human hair is hair that is collected from multiple sources that cannot guarantee the root and tip ends are traveling in the same direction. This hair must be processed to remove a portion of the cuticle (the outer-most layer of the hair) to prevent the hair from tangling and inverting with surrounding hair.

Our factories take great care when sorting our hair, it is sorted for both quality and length. There are different quality grades of hair; the higher the quality, the higher the cost. The terms “remy” and “non-remy” have nothing to do with the quality, origin, or length of hair.
