How long have you been in the alternative hair business?
Wigs by Patti’s Pearls has been online for 7 years. Before that, Patti had a wig salon and extensive experience in the alternative hair industry.
What inspired you to work in this business?
Patti’s survival of cancer inspired her to help women who lose their hair due to medical causes or treatments. Her positive, can-do attitude has inspired us all.
What is special or unique about the shopping experience on wigsbypattispearls.com?
The most important thing we do is provide helpful, caring service. We are willing to take the time to help a client to understand their options and find the right solution for them. We offer unique customizations-- Patti’s Signature Hairline and My Sizing-- that clients can select to make their wig just right for them. We also have a Rewards Points program for purchases and wig reviews, and Patti’s Pack, a fan club that awards prizes. In addition to phone or email help, we offer video consults over Skype and scheduled consults with Patti.
What advice would you give someone looking to purchase a wig or topper for the first time online?
Women investigating alternative hair for the first time are amazed at the style choices and the beautiful options. What they need to know for a great, comfortable fit are details about cap construction, hair care, etc. We recommend they learn the basics from Jon Renau’s website and our website. Watch some of Patti’s videos on our YouTube channel. Then call or email us. We are happy to answer any questions and help you find your perfect alternative hair.
What is your favorite Jon Renau piece?
easiPart – it’s a great piece for the client in the beginning stages of hair loss.
You are CORE certified; what would you say to someone who has not yet attended?
Education is so important, and Jon Renau does a great job with it. We recommend that everyone be CORE certified. What we’ve learned from CORE has helped us provide the best possible service to our clients. We have attended CORE multiple times over the years as the classes have changed and expanded.
What changes have you seen in our industry in the past 5 years?
The neatest thing has been the explosion of toppers, and the variety of sizes and shapes. It is exciting that so many women with thin hair or alopecia now have these great solutions available.
How do you see our industry evolving in the next 5 years?
We expect to see even more women wearing wigs just for fashion, as they discover the beauty of current wigs and how easy it is to change up your style.
What do you believe is one of your success factors?
Our focus on customer service and educating the client. We believe that if we take the time to make a client comfortable with their next wig or topper, they will come back to us for more in the future.
